We are pleased to draw your attention to the latest call for applications for the residence plus program, which you can apply to until December 22, 2025 (1 p.m.). residence plus is a project byVilla Wigman für Tanz e.V. in cooperation with TanzNetzDresden e.V. and its partner locations TanzART KirschauTanzRaumGörlitz at the Neisse Centre for the Contemporary Arts, KOMPLEX – OFF Bühne des Taupunkt e.V. ChemnitzTENZA Dresden and KulturOrt Heymannbaude – Kulturbaude und Landkunst e.V. The residence programme residence plus will be realised for a total of six residencies in 2025/2026, which will be selected by a three-member jury through an application and selection process.

This residency programme works to break down barriers by specifically addressing older artists, young artists, artists with disabilities and artists in care work in its call for applications. Professional dance practitioners working in the following areas are eligible to apply: dance, choreography, education, dramaturgy, production, science, criticism, etc.

Up to six four-week solo residencies will be awarded as research formats at Saxon production and theatre venues in Kirschau, Kleinhennersdorf, Görlitz, Chemnitz and Dresden. As part of the solo residency, participants can also choose a mentor who will contribute an outside perspective or specific professional expertise.

residence plus framework conditions:

  • Professional dance practitioners working in the following areas are eligible to apply: dance, choreography, education, dramaturgy, production, scholarship, criticism, etc
  • Period: January 1 to October 31, 2026
  • Duration: 4 weeks | multiple periods are possible
  • Applicants must be based in Saxony
  • One or more training sessions or workshops must be held at the place of residence
  • Workshop presentation at the end

residence plus offers:

  • Fee for a solo residency: 2,500.00 euros (net) Fee for mentoring: 5 days at 160.00 euros | each Total max. 800.00 euros (net)
  • travel expenses, accommodation, and material costs (as needed and agreed upon)
  • Studio use
  • Organizational (not technical) support
  • Support for special needs
  • Award:
    • 4 residencies in the period January 1 to May 31, 2026
    • 2 residencies in the period June 1 to October 31, 2026

Conditions for submission:

Exposé – in German or English PDF (max. 2 A4 pages) or audio or video file (max. 4 min) with the following content:

  • Description of the project
  • Motivation for applying within the residency program with a specific place of residence in Saxony
  • Introduction of the desired person for mentoring, if available
  • Ideas for training or workshop offerings during the residency, including information on the target group
  • Reasons for choosing the location(s) for the residency, stating first and second choice
  • Short biography with a maximum of 3 relevant video links (no downloads) to current or past work
  • Mention of special requirements
  • Listing of several possible periods of residence within the overall period from January 1 to October 31, 2026
  • The following are not eligible for funding: rehearsals for new productions, revivals and project submissions
