Special week with Max Levy at KEEP UP professional training • March 11 until 15, 2024 • TENZA Schmiede
In March we will present a special week with Max Levy from March 11 to 15 as part of the KEEP UP professional training. You can find more information about this very special offer in our today’s blog post, which as always will be published in both German and English.
Max Levy
Max Levy’s work focuses on the intersection of athletic concentration, meditative processes and laden atmospheres, utilizing the communication of performance to bridge the commitment of performers with the participation of observers; balancing a spectrum of active v. passive, conscious v. subconscious to redefine one’s presence and enjoyment of dance.
His processes produce a form of collaboration in which an artistic goal is formed not through a singular vision, but through the overlap of artistic contributors. He engages actively to reshape the hierarchy of dance creation and choreography encouraging interdisciplinary input at an early stage. All participants and performers are pushed to reclaim agency for their actions, as well as responsibility for their decisions and intentions. His works (and the processes therein) cements every member of a process to be essential.

Special week with Max Levy at TNDD professional training
Max’s training is a mixture of mental preparation, guided improvisation and physical fitness. The aim is to provide a flexible platform that allows dancers with different daily needs to access their natural methods while reaching challenging borders. The goal is to find a balance of internal awareness, external capabilities, and the oscillation between them. The class simultaneously focuses on coordination and muscle habits, to address both freedom in the improvisational form, and strictiness in addressing physical oversight.
