The year 2024 is also getting off to an intense and exciting start in terms of KEEP UP professional training, as there will be a Special Week with Amit Abend at the TENZA Schmiede from January 22 to 26, 2024, which will open up a broad spectrum of technique and perception for professional dancers. Amit Abend is an Israeli dance artist currently based in Dresden. She studied dance professionally at the Jerusalem high- school Academy for Music and Dance. At the age of 18, Amit was accepted into the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company II. Amit Abend worked as a company member with KCDC 2, Ephemera Dance Company, G-H-T, and the late Yaara Dolev. She collaborated with renowned artist Sandro Kopp and was a guest choreographer at Theater Görlitz. Her dance film „Stav“ is currently screening in festivals around the world.
Amit Abend was granted a four-week research residency in September 2023 as part of the “TANZPAKT in residence” program at the historic villa\wigman in Dresden, the former domain of dancer and choreographer Mary Wigman. The result of Amit’s research was the solo piece Wayfaring Stranger, an exploration of identity and belonging. The piece premiered in October 2023 at villa\wigman. It was also featured in vision:danceable at Societätstheater and had a successful return to the villa as part of Solo².

Special Week with Amit Abend at the TNDD professional training
From January 22 to 26, Amit Abend is offering a five-day Special Week as part of the KEEP UP professional training at the TENZA Schmiede. Here’s what Amit has to say about the approach and what participants can expect:
This special week presents a perfect opportunity to start the new year with a fresh perspective. We will use various exercises to challenge our perception of what we are capable of, surprise ourselves, and try out different ways of moving. We will invite qualities that we wish to experience more of in the coming year, using meditation, writing, and movement to reflect on the year that has passed and set intentions for the year to come. More particularly, we will welcome the new year with joy, excitement, and a celebration of movement.
